Religious Education

Each class has one RE focus week each term.  These follow the Tameside agreed RE syllabus.  These topic questions include question which focus on one religion such as 'Who is a Christian and what do they believe?' or 'What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?'.  Through these topics we will explore  Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Buddhism over time. We study what people of these faiths believe and always enforce that we respect the beliefs of others even if we don't agree. We also discuss religious festivals in assemblies at various points in the year.

Other RE focus weeks take a theme that is pertinent to several religions and compare it so these might include focus questions such as 'How and why do we celebrate special times?' and 'What makes some places sacred?'.

We have a daily act of collective worship which may be based on a religious festival or story, it might be about learning behaviours or about social issues such as Remembrance day or values based such as respect for others or British values such as democracy.
