‘Grow, Learn, Achieve Together’

Promoting British Values

Livingstone Primary School is committed to serving its community.  It recognises the multi-cultural, multi-faith and ever-changing nature of the United Kingdom.  It also understands the vital role it has in ensuring that groups or individuals within the school are not subjected to intimidation or radicalisation by those wishing to unduly, or illegally, influence them.

  • Democracy is developed through school council elections, school council meetings and pupil questionnaires.

  • The Rule of Law is emphasised through codes of conduct and school rules, reinforcement of these rules with praise and consequences, children having responsibilities across the school, visits of fire service personnel and police, and going to crucial crew.

  • Individual Liberty is enforced through celebrating individual rights and choices, children being confident to express their opinions, very strong relationships between staff and children and an anti-bullying culture.

  • Mutual Respect is promoted through assemblies; consequences of poor behaviour choices; respect a clear part of the curriculum and culture of the school; work in learning partners and groups effectively; respectful attitude to all enforced.

  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs is part of the curriculum and assemblies.  Children encouraged to discuss what they believe and tolerance is expected.  Children have a clear understanding that children belong to a variety of religious groups in school.  Genuine tolerance of those who have additional needs.
