Robinwood Residential
Our annual residential visit to Robinwood at Dobroyd Castle is a highlight of the school year and an experience that children remember long after they leave primary school. Set in a stunning 19th‑century mansion overlooking Todmorden, Dobroyd Castle provides the perfect setting for adventure, teamwork and personal growth.
Robinwood is known for its high‑quality outdoor education, exceptional safety standards and highly trained instructors. The centre offers a carefully structured programme designed to build confidence, resilience and cooperation. Children are encouraged to challenge themselves, support one another and discover strengths they didn’t know they had.
Dobroyd Castle is a great setting for a residential. Children stay in comfortable dormitories within the castle and enjoy a full timetable of activities from morning until evening almost all of which are on site.
Depending on the timetable, children may experience:
- Adventurous sports such as climbing, abseiling, caving and canoeing
- Problem solving challenges such as the Dungeon and Piranha Pool
- Teamwork activities such as crate challenge, quest and nightline
- Exciting experiences such as Zip Wire, trapeze and Giant Swing
Every activity is designed to be inclusive, supportive and allow all children to achieve.
The residential is about far more than adventure. Children learn to:
- Take responsibility for their belongings
- Work collaboratively with classmates
- Show resilience when faced with new challenges
- Communicate clearly and listen to others
- Build independence and self‑confidence
- Celebrate their own achievements and those of their peers
Robinwood is open to Year 6 each year and provides a wonderful memory of their time at primary school.
