Attendance

At Livingstone Primary it is our ambition to have every child in school every day. We believe that regular school attendance is key for our children to achieve their potential. Pupils with good attendance records benefit from:

 ·       Maximising educational opportunities

·       Developing good habits for secondary school / adult life

·       Making and maintaining friendships

 We work in partnership with our Local Authority Education Welfare Officer and the Mossley Schools Partnership Attendance Manager to support families who fall below our expected level of 96% attendance.

Children who have an attendance of 90% or less are considered to be Persistently Absent from school (PA). The table below shows how many days this is equivalent to:

Here is how you can help your child achieve good attendance:

 ·       Ensure non-urgent medical appointments are made outside of the school day eg. Routine dental appointments. If this is unavoidable please provide copies of letters or appointment cards.

 ·       Do not book family holidays during term time. In line with the Government ruling these will not be authorised and penalty notices and fines will be issued where appropriate.

 ·       Ensure that your child arrives on time for the start of registration (8.55 am). Children arriving after this should report to the front office. Arrivals before registers close will be recorded as “late”.

 ·       Encourage your child to continue to attend school with minor illnesses as detailed below. School are able to administer Calpol and prescription medicines during the school day as required.
